Guardian Rescue FAQ

Common questions about Aave liquidation risk and Guardian Rescue on Polygon.

What is a health factor?

The health factor measures the safety of your Aave position. A HF of 1.0 means your position is at the liquidation threshold. Above 1.0 is safe; below 1.0 means liquidation can occur. Guardian Rescue can help when your HF drops below 1.05.

Do I need to connect my wallet?

No. Paste any Polygon address to see the live risk report. Wallet connection is only needed at the signing step if you're eligible for rescue.

What does a Guardian Rescue cost?

The service fee is capped at 2.5% (250 bps) of the repaid debt amount. The fee is only charged if the rescue is successfully executed on-chain.

Is signing a transaction?

No. Signing an EIP-712 typed data message is gas-free and does not submit any on-chain transaction. It authorizes the Guardian system to execute a rescue on your behalf.

Does signing guarantee rescue?

No. Signing authorizes a rescue, but execution depends on safety checks passing and on-chain conditions. Execution may be automated when all safety checks pass, but execution is not guaranteed. We recommend monitoring your position even after signing.

How long is my signature valid?

Signatures expire 1 hour after signing. An expired signature cannot be used for execution. You can sign a new authorization if needed.

What assets are supported?

Guardian currently supports Aave v3 Polygon positions. Detected assets include USDC, USDT, WETH, WBTC, and DAI. If your asset pair is not detected, collateral and debt totals are still shown correctly.

Is this available on other chains?

Currently Polygon only. Multi-chain support is on the roadmap.

Who executes the rescue?

A scheduled automated runner checks for valid signed authorizations and executes rescues when all safety conditions are met. In unattended mode (the default), no human operator needs to be present. A manual review mode is available as a fallback.

What happens if my health factor improves after I sign?

The authorization is valid for 1 hour. If your HF improves above the rescue zone during that time, the preflight checks will detect it and the rescue will not execute. The authorization expires harmlessly.

Can I cancel a signed authorization?

While there's no on-chain cancel mechanism, the authorization is self-limiting: it expires in 1 hour, is bound to a specific on-chain nonce, and the preflight checks prevent execution if conditions aren't met. If you need to prevent execution immediately, you can withdraw the specific collateral or repay the debt on Aave.

How is this different from a liquidation?

A liquidation is involuntary and costs you 5-10% in penalties. Guardian Rescue is opt-in, costs at most 2.5%, and lets you choose which collateral is used. The rescue uses a flash loan and your own collateral — no external liquidator profits from your position.
